Bu araştırma, Kayserİ kentİnİn yİtİrİlmİş belleğİnİ dİjİtal çağın üretİm araçlarıyla yenİden görünür kılmayı ve geçmİşle gelecek arasında paralaks bİr buluşma mekânı kurmayı amaçlar. “Kayserİ Melİkgazİ Yarışması” projesİ, kentsel hafızayı bİr temsİl nesnesİ olarak değİl, dİjİtal etkİleşİm üzerİnden yenİden kurulan dİnamİk bİr süreç olarak ele alır. Bu araştırma şu soruya odaklanır: Kent belleğİ, dİjİtal çağın tasarım ve üretİm araçlarıyla nasıl yenİden görünür kılınabİlİr; mİmar bu süreçte geçmİş ve gelecek arasında nasıl bİr yaratıcı arayüz kurar? Araştırma sürecİ, kentİn tarİhsel dokusundakİ yıkımların bellek üzerİndekİ etkİlerİnİ İnceleyerek başlamış; bu kayıpların dİjİtal ortamda yenİden üretİlmesİyle kolektİf bİr farkındalık alanı oluşturulmuştur. This research aims to make the lost memory of the city of Kayseri visible again using the production tools of the digital age and to establish a parallax meeting place between the past and the future. The ‘Kayseri Melikgazi Competition’ project approaches urban memory not as a representational object but as a dynamic process reconstructed through digital interaction. The research focuses on the following question: How can urban memory be made visible again using the design and production tools of the digital age; how does the architect establish a creative interface between the past and the future in this process? The research process began by examining the effects of destruction on memory in the city’s historical fabric; a collective awareness space was created by reproducing these losses in a digital environment. The design was shaped by digitally calculating pedestrian movement patterns; pipe systems, hard surfaces and green spaces were algorithmically placed. QR codes on these pipes provide access to digital representations of lost structures in the city’s memory, bringing augmented reality layers to the city. The sounds produced by the metal rods inside the pipes with every gust of wind evoke the echoes of lost spaces; the city breathes again with the sounds of the past. The ground system converts kinetic energy obtained from pedestrian movement into electrical energy, transforming architecture into an energy-producing interface. This energy powers the lighting elements in the pipes surrounding the area and the charging units beneath the sundial; thus, the city dweller becomes a productive part of the space, both physically and digitally. An analogue sundial has been reinterpreted with reference to the clock tower, the city’s historical meeting point; the time of the past and the cybernetic layer of the digital age have been united in a circle through QR codes. Ultimately, the work demonstrates that urban memory can be sustained not only by preservation but also by its reproduction in the digital environment. The ‘Kayseri Melikgazi Competition’ project, as a result of the architect’s collaborative creative relationship with the city and the digital environment, proposes a living space of remembrance that brings together the past and the future in the ‘present.’
